The club manager had long wanted to improve the training environment but was limited by budget and site conditions. In 2025, the club decided to use the vacant land on both sides of the existing outdoor court to add two outdoor basketball court tent structures, upgrading the training site to an all-weather indoor venue while retaining the central outdoor court.

Thailand has clear technical specifications for temporary structures. These tents require submission of structural calculation reports and flame-retardant fabric certificates, and must be approved by the local municipal department before erection. Thailand does not require a locally registered engineer's stamp, and the approval process is relatively efficient. The permit is typically valid for two years and can be renewed by submitting documentation; it is not a permanent-use qualification. The club needed a solution that could meet these requirements and pass municipal acceptance.
Adding Tents on Both Sides of the Existing Outdoor Court Without Damaging the Ground
The club's outdoor basketball court has been in use for years, with a professional sports surface. The club required that tent construction must not damage the existing ground, and no excavation or concrete foundations were allowed. At the same time, the tent positions and dimensions needed to precisely fit the existing site boundaries and surroundings, while the central outdoor court had to remain usable.
Functional Allocation of the Two Tents
The club wanted one tent on each side of the existing court. The left tent has a span of 24m, a length of 30m, and an area of 720㎡. The right tent has a span of 24m, a length of 36m, and an area of 864㎡. Both tents serve as basketball training and competition venues and can accommodate multiple groups training simultaneously, or be used separately for different age groups' training and matches. The right tent also needs to support youth competition functions, matching the club's youth-focused positioning. The central outdoor court is retained for dry-season training and warm-up activities.
Rainy Season Construction Window and Strong Monsoon Wind Verification
The rainy season in Bangkok offers limited construction windows, and the club hoped to complete installation during the dry season. In addition, Bangkok occasionally experiences strong monsoon winds, so the tent structure needed verification against strong monsoon winds to ensure safety in extreme weather.
Solution
LINGTONG designed one modular aluminum outdoor basketball court tent on each side of the club's existing outdoor basketball court, upgrading the training site into all-weather basketball training and competition venues.
The left tent has a span of 24m, a length of 30m, and a total area of 720㎡. The interior is column-free, and the clear area meets standard basketball court dimensions with buffer zones on all sides. The eave height is 6m, meeting the minimum clearance for basketball training and competition. The left tent is mainly used as a daily training hall for youth teams.
The right tent has a span of 24m, a length of 36m, and a total area of 864㎡. The interior is column-free, with more generous space that can accommodate a standard basketball court plus spectator seating and a score table. The right tent is mainly used for youth competitions and adult team training, and can host the club's internal leagues and regional youth events.
Both tents use 6061-T6 high-strength aluminum alloy frames with bolted connections, requiring no welding. The roof and sidewalls use double-layer PVC-coated polyester fabric, with flame retardancy meeting Thai fire safety requirements, and providing waterproof, UV-resistant, and heat-aging-resistant performance suitable for Bangkok's hot and rainy climate. The structural design was verified against strong monsoon winds to ensure stability in extreme weather.
The anchoring system uses ballasted weights, requiring no excavation or concrete foundations. The ballast load was verified, with the pressure per unit area controlled within the bearing capacity of the existing sports surface, fully preserving the original ground and preventing damage to the surface. The central outdoor court is unaffected by construction and remains usable during installation. Anti-glare LED lighting is installed to support evening training and competition; sidewalls can be rolled up for natural ventilation, adapting to Bangkok's hot climate.
For fire safety, each tent is equipped with safety exits meeting Thai fire safety requirements, with emergency lighting and evacuation signage at exits, and fire extinguishers sized according to the area to ensure rapid evacuation in emergencies.
LINGTONG provided structural calculation reports, flame-retardant certificates, ballast load verification reports, and construction manuals compliant with Thai temporary structure standards, assisting the club with municipal approval.
Implementation Process
The project started in November 2025. The LINGTONG engineering team communicated online with the club and confirmed the layout of the two tents on both sides of the existing court based on the club's site dimensions, photos, and video materials, keeping the central outdoor court unchanged. Design drawings and structural calculation reports were submitted in mid-November. The club submitted the construction permit application and flame-retardant certificates to the Bangkok municipal department in late November. The overall approval period was about five weeks, and approval was successfully obtained by the end of December.
All components were prefabricated at the LINGTONG factory and shipped to Bangkok by sea. The club organized a local installation team, with LINGTONG providing remote technical guidance and installation manual support. The installation team followed LINGTONG's drawings and installation instructions and carried out construction during Bangkok's dry season window in January 2026. The installation sequence started with the left tent, followed by the right tent. Installation included aluminum frame assembly, roof fabric tensioning, sidewall installation, lighting layout, fire safety equipment installation, and ventilation system commissioning. Neither tent's construction occupied the central outdoor court.
The entire installation period was 18 days, and municipal acceptance was passed in early February. This schedule reflects the efficient execution of the club's local installation team under LINGTONG's remote guidance, and is not a common timeline achievable in all projects.
Final Results and Client Feedback
Both tents were officially put into use at the start of the new season, becoming the club's main indoor venues for year-round training and competition.
The left tent is used for daily training of youth teams, with about 250 young trainees using it regularly. The venue is used about 5 hours per day on weekdays, covering after-school training and weekend sessions.
The right tent is used for youth competitions and adult team training, with about 150 adult players and amateur league participants using it. The venue can host the club's internal leagues and regional youth events, with more than 20 matches held each season.
The central outdoor court retains its original function and is used in the dry season for warm-up, fitness training, and recreational activities, complementing the two indoor basketball halls.
The two tents cover a total area of 1,584㎡, increasing the club's training capacity by about three times compared with the previous outdoor court, and raising annual usable training days from about 150 to more than 330.
Within one year after completion, the club's registered membership grew from about 120 to about 400, the coaching team expanded from 4 to 10, and weekly training hours increased from less than 10 to more than 40.
The club reported that the total cost of the facility was about 40% lower than renting indoor gymnasiums over the same period, and it was no longer limited by booking slots, significantly improving training continuity and student participation.
